Advanced User Interface Laboratory
The development of M&C solutions has implied the development of advanced graphical user interfaces under restrictive constraints on terms of performance, reliability and efficiency. To fulfill such strong requirements TCPSI created the Advanced User Interface Laboratory that has developed several studies during the past years for the evaluation of the appropriate graphical interfaces technologies to use. The main objective is to provide advanced UI that perfectly fit the user’s requirements in our solutions, decoupling the UI from the rest of the system. The range of expertise and solutions provided by TCPSI comprises different solutions for a wide range of needs: from M&C applications running under Real Time Operating Systems to Web interfaces.
In this sense, TCPSI expertise has evolved from X and Motif towards Web Technologies, XML, Java, Java3D, RCP applications, etc…
TCPSI has developed an advanced generic solution for graphical interfaces applicable to a wide range of systems: the WGMMI, which was initially conceived as an applet for remote tele-operation of ground stations equipments and has evolved to a generic desktop application for remote M&C. The WGMMI is a generic framework developed on Java that supports easy customization of the appearance and behavior of its graphical elements.
WGMMI can also be extended by means of visual plug-ins (COTS or in-house developed) to adapt it for the interfaced system. WGMMI flexibility allows its use in different fields, from telescopes to UAVs and ROVERs.
